Beating Retreat Ceremony Set To New Tunes This Year, Drones Light Up Sky

‘Sare Jahan Se Achcha’ changed the Christian hymn Abide With Me, a favorite of Mahatma Gandhi.

New Delhi:

The Beating Retreat ceremony – a centuries-old army custom going again to the times when troops disengaged from battle at sundown as quickly as ‘buglers’ sounded the ‘retreat’ – was set to new tunes this 12 months.

The ceremony is carried out yearly on January 29 and marks the tip of the Republic Day celebrations.

A number of recent tunes had been added to the ceremony to commemorate 75 years of the nation’s independence (being celebrated as Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav). These embrace ‘Kerala’, ‘Hind ki Sena’ and ‘Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon’.

The Defence Ministry included the patriotic music ‘Aey Mere Watan ke Brand’ within the Beating Retreat ceremony in an effort to make the occasion extra Indian.

‘Sare Jahan Se Achcha’ changed the Christian hymn Abide With Me, a favorite of Mahatma Gandhi.

A grand drone present dazzled the sky above the nationwide capital in the course of the ceremony.

The ten-minute drone present involving 1,000 drones, in accordance with the Defence Ministry, was to commemorate the 75 years of Independence.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh, chatting with information company ANI, mentioned that India will turn into the fourth nation on this planet after the UK, Russia and China to mild up 1,000 drones within the sky in the course of the Beating Retreat ceremony.
